Take a short break in Aldeburgh

We have two excellent hotels on the peaceful sea front in Aldeburgh, host of the famous summer arts festival, inspired by Benjamin Britten. Stretching the definition of a country house hotel perhaps but these hotels offer the ambience that those in search of a rejuvenating short or weekend break will appreciate.

Seaside serenity

The award winning Brudenell Hotel has bedrooms with sea, river or marshland views and a lovely terrace on which to enjoy well-cooked fresh fish. Close by is the historic White Lion Hotel, which has been providing hospitality to travelers since 1563. Again fresh fish and other local produce are available in the wood paneled restaurant. Antique hunting in Lavenham

Travel inland to historic Lavenham, a favourite haunt for antiques hunters and home to more than three hundred listed buildings. Here you'll find the Swan Hotel, with its medieval, half-timbered façade. This four star hotel is luxurious and full of character and has a good restaurant. In the 1500's the three star Swallow Belstead Brook Hotel was a hunting lodge. Now, set in nine acres of parkland, the hunting grounds have become an Ipswich suburb, giving easy access to Ipswich but providing comfortable retreat with indoor pool, steam room and an ward-winning oak panelled Jacobean restaurant.
